About the PURRDAT liquidations
What is a PURRDAT liquidation?
When losses on a leveraged PURRDAT futures position use up its margin, the exchange closes it by force at market. A long liquidation is a forced sell and hits when price drops; a short liquidation is a forced buy and hits when price rises.
How to read it
Liquidations cluster at sharp moves: forced sells push price lower, which can liquidate the next long, and the same happens upward for shorts. A wave of long liquidations shows over-leveraged longs being flushed; it describes what just happened and is not a prediction.
Data coverage
From the public liquidation streams of Binance USDⓈ-M and Bybit linear perps. Binance reports at most one liquidation per symbol per second, so totals are a lower bound. Hyperliquid publishes no liquidation feed. Totals cover the time since the server last started.
