How it's counted. Shared coins are coins with a perpetual future on both exchanges (Hyperliquid HIP-3 markets excluded). Open interest is the USD value of open perpetual positions (one side) at the mark price, summed over the markets this site tracks. Which exchanges can I compare?

Every pair of perpetual futures exchanges this site reads live data from. Each comparison uses the exchanges' own public market-data APIs, not a data vendor.

What does "shared coins" mean?

Coins both exchanges list a perpetual future for. Funding averages and the coin table use only those, so the two exchanges are compared on the same markets.

Why are some comparisons thin?

Two exchanges with few coins in common can't be compared like for like on funding. Pairs with fewer than 20 shared coins still have a page, but it is not listed for search engines.

How often do the numbers update?

On every page load. Open interest and funding are polled from each exchange every 30 to 60 seconds, and liquidations stream in as they happen on exchanges that publish them.
