What does the crypto heatmap show?
Each tile is one coin. Its size is the coin's open interest (the value of open perpetual futures positions) summed over Binance, Bybit and Hyperliquid, so the biggest derivatives markets take the most space. The colour is the metric picked above the map: green for rising or positive values, red for falling or negative ones, and stronger colours for bigger moves. Grey means flat or no data yet.
Which metrics can I colour the map by?
Price change and open interest change over 1, 4 and 24 hours, the open-interest-weighted funding rate (per 8 hours), the long/short split of the last 24 hours of liquidations, the share of Binance accounts that are long (long/short ratio) and 24h perp volume divided by open interest, which shows how actively a market's positions turn over.
How are the open interest gainers and losers calculated?
Open interest is summed per coin across every exchange, and the change compares that total with the same markets' total 1, 4 or 24 hours ago. Only coins with at least $1M of open interest count. For single markets with build-up labels (new longs, short covering and so on) see the open interest screener.
Why are some tiles grey?
Changes come from 5-minute snapshots this site records itself, so a 4h or 24h change needs that much history after a server restart. Liquidation colours need at least $10k of liquidations in 24 hours and long/short colours need exchange ratio data for that coin. Nothing here is financial advice.
