Bitcoin Daily RSI Episode History
How long did Bitcoin stay oversold or overbought in the daily spot archive?
Daily RSI(14) rule: oversold is below 30; overbought is 70 or above. Exactly 30 is neutral. Each row is one consecutive spell, including single-day spells. An observed neutral day or a direct change to the opposite band ends a spell. A missing or incomplete day breaks the observation without proving a recovery.
Source: Binance BTCUSDT spot hourly candles in the permanent spot_1h archive. Only complete UTC days with all 24 finite, positive hourly closes qualify. The daily close is the 23:00 candle’s close at the next midnight. No live perpetual prices or daily-kline requests enter this history.
Stored candle opens (UTC): → . The newest stored candle closed 8.4 hours before this page check (2026-10-29 08:26 UTC). This is an archived daily history, not a live reading.
Within the stored calendar-day span: 0 missing days, 20 incomplete or invalid days, 60 missing hours and 0 invalid hourly observations. Incomplete edge days are included in these counts. Latest seeded RSI observation: 2026-10-28 UTC.
Source window: 2016-10-29 00:00 → 2026-10-29 00:00 UTC cutoff (end exclusive). At most the last ten years are read; today’s unfinished UTC day is excluded. Successful reads are cached for up to one hour; failures for 30 seconds.
Wilder’s RSI(14) is seeded with the simple average of the first 14 daily changes in each contiguous segment: 15 complete daily closes are needed for the first RSI. After a gap, the seed starts again. This explicit spot-archive series can differ from live perpetual RSI and from values seeded with shorter history.
Dates below identify UTC days, inclusive of the first and last extreme day. “Ended” requires a following observed RSI outside that band; its date is shown separately. A spell already extreme at the first seeded value has an unknown start (left censored). A gap or the latest source edge leaves its end unknown (right censored). Either boundary qualifies the duration as at least N observed days.
Each band lists its 20 most recent observed episodes, newest first, plus up to three longest fully bounded episodes. Censored spells never enter the longest-completed rankings. Equal durations rank by earlier start; equal RSI extremes retain their first date. This is descriptive history, without a forward-return win rate or a trading recommendation.
