Funding Fees Paid: Longs vs Shorts

How many dollars of funding longs paid shorts, or shorts paid longs, across the perpetual futures markets we record. Each settlement's rate is multiplied by the market's open interest at the settlement hour. These are estimates: exchanges do not publish paid totals.

Coverage. Binance, Bybit, Hyperliquid, Bitget and Gate perpetuals with recorded settlement history (the largest markets by open interest on each). Estimate: settled rate × open interest at the settlement hour. A settlement with no recorded open interest for its hour is skipped and counted, never treated as zero. Coverage is settled hours with open interest over the hours the included markets could settle in the window; under half is marked partial. Settlements are recorded three times a day, so the latest hours fill in later.

Positive funding: longs paid shorts. Negative: shorts paid longs. Open interest counts one side (long size equals short size). Exchanges do not publish paid totals; positions opened or closed within the hour make the real amount differ. Totals refresh every 10 minutes.

Funding fees paid FAQ

How much funding did longs pay shorts?

The headline table sums every recorded settlement over the last 24 hours, 7 days and 30 days. A positive rate means longs paid shorts; a negative one, shorts paid longs. The net row is the difference, so it shows which side paid on balance.

How is the paid amount estimated?

For each settlement: the settled rate for that interval times the market's open interest in USD at the settlement hour. Open interest counts one side (total long size, which equals total short size). Exchanges do not publish the dollars actually paid, and positions opened or closed within the hour make the true figure differ.

Which exchanges and markets are included?

Binance, Bybit, Hyperliquid, Bitget and Gate perpetuals whose settlement history this site records, the largest markets by open interest on each. A settlement with no recorded open interest for its hour is skipped and counted in the coverage line, never treated as zero.

What does partial mean?

Coverage compares the settled hours with usable open interest to the hours the included markets could have settled in the window. Below half, the figure is marked partial: recent settlements arrive a few times a day, and hourly open interest lags by up to two hours.
