Worked example
BTC long, the numbers above- You open a 10x long of 0.121884 BTC ($10,000.00) at $82,045.10. Your initial margin is $10,000.00 ÷ 10 = $1,000.00.
- KuCoin puts a $10,000.00 position in risk tier 1: a maintenance margin rate of 0.40%, and at most 125x leverage.
- Liquidation price = (entry × (1 − 1/leverage)) ÷ (1 − MMR) = $74,137.14.
- That is 9.64% below your entry.
How KuCoin calculates liquidation
XBTUSDTMFor an isolated USDT position, this uses KuCoin's linear formula: a long's entry × (1 − 1/leverage) ÷ (1 − MMR − fee), and a short's entry × (1 + 1/leverage) ÷ (1 + MMR + fee). The risk-limit tier supplies MMR; no deduction is published. Enter the liquidation fee rate in the fee field to reserve it. Liquidation follows the mark price. KuCoin formula.
| Tier | Position value | Max leverage | MMR | Deduction |

| 1 | $0 – $250K | 125x | 0.4% | – |
| 2 | $250K – $600K | 100x | 0.5% | – |

The formula
Long: Liquidation = (Entry × (1 − 1/Leverage) − Deduction ÷ Quantity) ÷ (1 − MMR − fee)
Short: Liquidation = (Entry × (1 + 1/Leverage) + Deduction ÷ Quantity) ÷ (1 + MMR + fee)
The maintenance margin is position value × MMR − deduction, with the MMR and the deduction of the tier your position value falls in. Without a deduction this is the classic isolated-margin formula of the liquidation price calculator. Quantity = position value ÷ entry.

KuCoin Liquidation Price Calculator FAQ
Why does BTC use XBT on KuCoin?
KuCoin names its BTC USDT perpetual XBTUSDTM. The calculator maps BTC to that contract's risk limits.
How is the KuCoin liquidation price calculated?
For an isolated long: (entry × (1 − 1/leverage) − deduction ÷ quantity) ÷ (1 − maintenance margin rate − fee). For a short: (entry × (1 + 1/leverage) + deduction ÷ quantity) ÷ (1 + maintenance margin rate + fee). The maintenance margin is charged on the position's value at the liquidation price; the rate and the deduction come from the tier your position value falls in.
Where can I see every tier?
The BTC max leverage page lists the full tier tables of Bybit, Bitget, Gate, Hyperliquid, KuCoin and MEXC side by side. For a calculator with your own maintenance margin rate, use the liquidation price calculator.
