Levels are Binance spot BTCUSDT at CME's session times; CME futures trade at a premium or discount to spot (see /futures-term-structure), so real CME gaps differ slightly. CME holiday sessions are not modelled. Gaps under 0.1% show as no gap. A gap is filled on the first UTC day after the reopen whose low and high span the Friday level. History, not a forecast; not financial advice.

Bitcoin CME gap FAQ

What is a CME gap?

CME's Bitcoin and Ether futures trade nearly around the clock on weekdays but stop from Friday 16:00 to Sunday 17:00 Chicago time, while crypto keeps trading. If the price has moved when CME reopens, its chart shows a gap between Friday's close and Sunday's open. Traders watch these levels because price often comes back to them.

Do CME gaps always fill?

No. Most do, many within days, but some stay open for months or never fill. A gap counts as filled here on the first UTC day after the reopen whose daily low and high span the Friday level. Since 4 Jan 2019, 97% of Bitcoin's 392 estimated gaps filled and 13 are still open. Past fill rates are not a forecast.

Why is this an estimate?

CME futures quotes are not free public data. Levels are Binance spot BTCUSDT at CME's session times; CME futures trade at a premium or discount to spot (see /futures-term-structure), so real CME gaps differ slightly. CME holiday sessions are not modelled.
