Crypto 8-hour UTC session recap
A fixed UTC block, not a rolling 24 hours: pick a coin, a day and one of three eight-hour sessions. Every number comes from the hourly data we recorded for one Binance reference perpetual.
Coin, day and session
Sessions are fixed UTC blocks (00:00-08:00, 08:00-16:00, 16:00-24:00), not London or New York trading hours. A block can be chosen once it ended at least 10 minutes ago, from today back 29 days. The default is BTC and the newest finished block.
Contract: Binance BTCUSDT perpetual (binance:perp:BTCUSDT), the reference contract for BTC here, not every exchange. Session 2026-10-18 16:00 UTC – 2026-10-19 00:00 UTC; changes are measured from the 2026-10-18 15:00 UTC anchor hour. Whole day: BTC daily recap for 2026-10-18.

How this recap is built
Source: Binance USD-M futures public market data, recorded by our engine each minute and rolled up to hours. Only the coin's Binance USDT perpetual is read; other exchanges and contracts are not included, so this is not a total for the coin.
The price return and OI changes compare the hour before the session with the session's last hour, using the last values we recorded in each hour. A change is shown only when both hours were recorded and nothing in between went unrecorded. The price-adjusted OI change removes the price move from the USD change.
Funding is the average of the rates quoted each hour, as an 8-hour equivalent. It is not the rate paid at settlement and is never summed.
Liquidations add up the forced orders seen during recorded hours. Binance's public stream shows at most one liquidation per symbol per second, so totals are a sampled lower bound, never a complete count. A recorded hour with no liquidations counts as zero; an hour we were not recording is left out.
