Current indicative quote for the NEXT payment: +0.007345% per 8.0h native period. This is one payment, not a daily or 8-hour projection.
- Estimated signed funding cost (hold)
- +0.7345 USDT
- Extra trading costs (close + reopen)
- 8.0000 USDT
- Two fees / two slippage allowances
- 8.0000 / 0.0000 USDT
- Cost difference (funding − trading costs)
- -7.2655 USDT
- Break-even native-period funding rate
- +0.080000%
Break-even paying direction: positive funding (longs pay). With zero extra costs, equality is at a zero rate. This is a native-period rate, not an annualized or normalized 8h rate.
0.7345 USDT paid at the current quote. Positive signed cost means paid; negative means received.
The estimated funding cost is below the extra trading costs; the difference is negative.
Formula and worked example
For a 10,000 USDT long, two 0.04% fees and zero slippage cost 8 USDT. A +0.08% native-period funding quote gives an 8 USDT payment: exact equality. A +0.01% native quote costs 1 USDT, leaving a −7 USDT difference. A short pays at negative funding, so its break-even quote is −0.08% with the same costs.
Native fraction = stored 8h fraction × native hours / 8. Signed paid cost = side sign × notional × native fraction, with +1 for long and −1 for short. A stored 0.08% / 8h quote on a 1h contract is 0.01% for its next payment; on an 8h contract it is 0.08%.
Extra trading cost = notional × ((close fee % + reopen fee %) / 100 + (close slippage bps + reopen slippage bps) / 10,000). Difference = signed paid cost − extra trading cost. Break-even native fraction is side sign × extra trading cost / notional.
The scenario assumes the same notional for both extra trades, closing before the next settlement and reopening after it. It excludes price movement while flat, missed execution, rate changes, liquidation and USDT depegging. Final funding and actual execution costs can differ. This is arithmetic, not an instruction to close a position. No orders, account connections or additional data collection are involved.
